One of the most common questions I get is, “When do classes start?” or “Why don’t I see a calendar of upcoming lessons?” It’s a fair question—and the answer is actually one of the key benefits of private scuba instruction.
Unlike group classes, which follow a fixed schedule and require you to fit your life around them, private scuba lessons are designed around you. That means there isn’t a pre-set calendar or list of class start dates. Instead, we work together to find lesson times that match your availability and mine—giving you maximum flexibility and control over your learning experience.
Why There’s No Calendar of Dates
Because every private lesson is one-on-one (or sometimes two-on-one for couples or friends learning together), we don’t operate on fixed time blocks like a traditional dive shop’s group schedule. Instead, each class is scheduled individually once we’ve had a chance to talk about your availability, travel plans, pace of learning, and even your preferred location.
Some training sessions—like confined water work in a pool—require us to book pool time in advance. That pool may be at a local facility or resort depending on where you are. Other parts of training, such as open water dives, may require coordinating with a charter boat operator, which also needs time to schedule. Because of this, we build your course around both your schedule and the logistics needed to provide a seamless, safe, and enjoyable training experience.
What This Means for You
No fixed dates to work around – You won’t need to rearrange your life to fit into a rigid class structure.
Scheduling is personalized – We’ll find days and times that work best for you.
Location flexibility – If you’d like to do your training in your hometown, on vacation, or at a specific destination, I can travel to meet you (with advance planning).
Time to reserve facilities – Because pool time and charter boats need to be booked, we ask for a little notice when planning your course.
How to Get Started
If you’re ready to begin, the first step is simple: reach out and let me know you’re interested. We’ll have a brief conversation about your schedule, location, and goals, and then start building a training plan just for you.
Private scuba instruction is a tailored, client-centered experience—and that starts from the very first scheduling conversation. Let’s make diving work around your life, not the other way around.
